Abstract

The single reference for medicines and substances for pharmaceutical use in Europe

The European Pharmacopoeia are legally binding and compliance is enforced by the administrative or juridical authorities. This 3rd year of 7th edition comes into force on the 1 January 2013.

The 7th edition includes a total of 2130 monographs, 330 general chapters illustrated with diagrams or chromatograms, and 2457 descriptions of reagents.

The texts cover active substances, excipients, substances or preparations for pharmaceutical use of chemical, animal, human or herbal origin, homoeopathic preparations and stocks, antibiotics, as well as dosage forms and containers. The texts also apply to biologicals, blood and plasma derivatives, vaccines and radiopharmaceutical preparations.

The electronic format has the following convenient features: hyperlinks in the text of a monograph giving access to information on general methods, reagents and reference substances used in the monograph. Changes (inserted or deleted texts) are indicated in both the HTML version and the PDF version. Each new version supersedes the previous one. For the 7th Edition a new USB-Stick was be published. It feature a new "portability" option allowing users to run the European Pharmacopoeia application directly from the USB drive following a one-time licensing procedure and with no further installation. In addition, USB-stick will continue to allow two fixed installs as it was the case with the DVD-ROM of 6th Edition.

Das Standard-Nachschlagewerk für Arzneimittel in Europa

Die European Pharmacopoeia ist in 36 europäischen Staaten verbindlich. Die gemeinsamen Vorschriften erleichtern den freien Warenaustausch innerhalb Europas und sichern eine einheitliche Arzneimittelqualität.

Das 3. Jahr der 7. Ausgabe der European Pharmacopoeia tritt am 1. Januar 2013 in Kraft. Das Grundwerk (2 Bände) wird regelmäßig 3 x im Jahr durch Nachträge aktualisiert. Bis 2013 umfasst die European Pharmacopoeia somit weitere acht ergänzende Veröffentlichungen.

Die 7. Ausgabe der European Pharmacopoeia beinhaltet 2.130 Monographien, 330 allgemeine Kapitel mit zahlreichen Diagrammen und Chromatogrammen sowie 2.457 Reagenzien.

Das europäische Arzneibuch enthält Analysenvorschriften für Arzneistoffe, Arzneipflanzen, Impfstoffe, Blut und Blutprodukte, Nahtmaterialien, Darreichungsformen, Behältnisse und die dafür verwendeten Materialien, sowie Reagenzien und Hilfsstoffe. Anhand der Vorschriften werden Identität, Reinheit und Gehalt geprüft, also die Qualität von Arzneimitteln sichergestellt.

Die elektronischen Versionen bieten folgende zusätzliche Möglichkeiten: Hyperlinks verweisen auf allgemeine Medthoden, Reagenzien und Referenzsubstanzen, auf die in der jeweiligen Monographie Bezug genommen wird. Änderungen (Textlöschungen oder –einfügungen) sind sowohl in HTML-Seiten als auch in pdf-Formaten sichtbar. Jedes Update enthält alle Inhalte der vorherigen Ausgaben.

Der USB-Stick bietet, wie früher die DVD der 6th Edition, die Möglichkeit, an 2 festgelegten Rechnern installiert werden. Zusätzlich unterstützt der USB-Stick eine neue portability-Option. Nach einer einmaligen Registrierung kann der Anwender die European Pharmacopoeia direkt vom USB-Stick nutzen ohne weitere Installation auf dem Rechner.

Die European Pharmacopoeia erhalten Sie als Abonnement. Im Jahresbezugspreis enthalten sind sämtliche im Abo-Zeitraum erscheinenden Updates bzw. Nachträge – für das Jahr 2012/2013 die Ausgaben 7.6, 7.7 und 7.8.
