BNF for Children (BNFC)
BNF for Children (BNFC)
The British National Formulary for Children (BNFC) is a joint publication of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the Neonatal and Paediatric Pharmacists Group, the British Medical Association and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.BNF for Children will be under continuous revision and an update will be produced each month.
BNF for Children
provides essential practical information to all practicing and prospective healthcare professionals involved in the prescribing, dispensing, monitoring, and administration of medicines to children. It encourages a safe, effective, an appropriate drug management of childhood conditions.
As many medicines are not licensed for use in children, BNFC includes authoritative advice and comprehensive doing guidance on licensed as well as unlicensed and "off-label" use of medicines for children from birth up to the age of 18 years. At the same time BNFC helps to advise children and their carers about those drugs.
BNFC is useful for doctors, other prescribers, pharmacists, dentists, nurses, health visitors, other healthcare professionals as well as students training to join the health professions.
