El Hidrotratamiento Catalítico (HDT) es un proceso utilizado en la refinación del petróleo, para eliminar aproximadamente el 90% de los contaminantes, tales como nitrógeno, azufre, oxígeno y metales. La reducción de azufre y nitrógeno en el producto final es de gran importancia desde el punto de vista medioambiental. Muchos estudios describen la influencia del soporte sobre el rendimiento de los catalizadores de hidrotratamiento, tal como tamices moleculares, mesoporosos de sílice-alúminas, óxido de zirconio, titanio, óxido de niobio metales y óxidos. En los últimos años los materiales de silicato mesoporosos con estructura porosa ordenada, atrajeron la atención como nuevos materiales de soportes para catalizadores para hidrotratamiento. En el presente trabajo se investigan reacciones de HDT, utilizando una serie de catalizadores de Ir soportados en mesoporosos silíceos, modificados con el fin de mejorar la acidez, la dispersión de los sitios activos y en consecuencia, la actividad catalítica.
